Project Goals
Holman’s vision for their headquarters in Mount Laurel, NJ, centered on modernizing their work environment, enhancing transparency, and improving employee experiences. The goals included creating a more inclusive and connected campus, standardizing workspaces across buildings, and increasing collaborative and social areas. A key objective was to implement new space types for flexibility and growth while supporting team building, employee recruitment, retention, and client experiences. The design intent was to create a central campus hub that serves as the heart of the campus, with ample amenities and a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Agile Design
The design strategy prioritized flexibility and openness across the three-building campus, with a focus on increasing collaboration and supporting a hybrid workforce. Key elements include the redesign of workstations to promote agile work, along with an updated ratio of workstations to collaborative spaces. Holman’s work areas now feature adjustable desks and a mix of private offices, shared spaces, and casual meeting spots, giving employees the flexibility to choose work settings that align with their tasks. This approach extends to the new campus hub, where a variety of open and closed spaces promote communication, collaboration, and interaction.
Branding
Holman’s strong brand identity was integrated thoughtfully into the design, using colors, textures, and architectural features to create a cohesive look across the campus. A modern yet professional atmosphere was achieved through the use of the company’s brand colors, including a signature red applied in key areas and a neutral color palette featuring shades of gray, along with ash and oak wood tones. The branding is expressed through custom features such as a moss wall, furniture design, and large wall installations, enhancing the overall experience while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
Design Finished & Palette
The design for Holman’s headquarters blends professional sophistication with inviting warmth. The space features abundant natural light, transparency, and an open feel, utilizing white surfaces, black accents, and wood finishes. The introduction of warm grays and light wood tones creates a sense of balance, while the expansive use of glass allows for a visual connection to the outdoors. Key design elements include abstract “road” motifs that tie together various areas of the campus, symbolizing movement and connectivity. The design also integrates functional spaces such as wellness rooms, updated fitness areas, and specialized tech hubs to foster a holistic employee experience.
